Scottsdale, Ariz.- People who play the new beamz laser music system will now be able to play along with favorite artists such as the Police, Justin Timberlake and U2. The beamz is releasing a variety of popular hit music songs that can be downloaded through its Web site, www.thebeamz.com, and then played through its unique six laser beam system.

The beamz, which debuted in April, is a "W" shaped table top device that allows people to make harmonious music with little training. A musical instrument is assigned to each of the system's red laser beams and when the player breaks the beams with his or her hand, musical notes, riffs or sounds are played. The system comes with software that makes it easy to select from songs in 19 musical genres, including jazz, hard rock, blues, reggae, hip-hop, Latin and classical.

Now company composers and product engineers have developed a way for users to play the beamz along with hit songs. They've created harmonious instruments and tracks that compliment songs users already know and love.

The company is initially releasing 15 hit songs that come from a variety of artists and genres, including:
U2: Vertigo
Justin Timberlake: Rock Your Body
Rihanna: Umbrella
Billy Idol: White Wedding
Kanye West: Good Life
Police: Every Breath You Take

The folks at beamz expect to add an additional five hit songs each month through the end of this year. Each hit song costs $2.99 to download.

"This takes playing air guitar to the next level," beamz inventor and musician Jerry Riopelle said. "Now you actually hear yourself contributing to the music instead of just pretending to be part of the band."

The company Web site already offers 40 original compositions for $1.99 each, which were created by beamz Interactive composers. Additionally, the beamz unit ships with a CD of 30 songs.
